When Golf Isn’t Fun Anymore
I was merely completing a lesson with one of my most capable junior players, a 12-year-old young girl who has won practically every competition she's entered. She offered a conversation starter that I couldn't reply on the spot.
"This diversion should be fun, right?" she inquired. "I don't feel like I'm having some good times any longer."
"Give me a chance to give that some idea," I said. "When you return for your next lesson, I'll have a response for you."
When she restored the next week, I had recorded my musings on a bit of paper. We sat down on a close-by seat.
"I'd get a kick out of the chance to peruse to you," I said. "Are you prepared?" She gestured excitedly.
"To begin with, I imagine that as you won, what you would already characterize as FUN was supplanted by SATISFACTION," I advised her. "This is the thing that incredible players feel when they have achieved an accomplishment. What happens is that as players move from amateur to master, they characterize their experience in an unexpected way." I hung over and demonstrated her realistic that I had drawn.
"What happens is there is a traverse point in the psyche of players," I said. "As they turn out to be more genuine about the amusement, their desires increment” Second, fledglings have no desires with regards to score. They are just playing the amusement for diversion. Starting players may have a fabulous time since they have no desire for execution. Third… and here is the last point. Flawlessness isn't achievable. By far most of the shots you will hit in a round are serviceable misses. There are just a single or two perfect shots for each round. A player who demands flawlessness can't appreciate the diversion." I stopped for a minute to let the last point simmer for a while.
"What do you appreciate about the diversion, " she inquired.
"That is a reasonable inquiry," I said. "I appreciate the sentiment a strong shot as it strikes the club confront; I appreciate the organization of alternate players in the gathering; I appreciate the sights and hints of nature; I appreciate the outside air and exercise. I could name all the more. However, that is a decent begins."
I proceeded on: "I'm imagining that you have been so centered on enhancing your score and winning that you have dismissed the more pleasant parts of the diversion. You may discover you are having a ton of fun when you change your approach.
So when golf is not enjoyable for you, then maybe this is not the right thing for you, and you have to start and deal with any other activity. Golf is a sport for recreation and entertainment. The players of this sport are amused during their games, and for them, golf is very important. As long as you do not have the same feeling of golf, then you have made the wrong choice in sports, and you should change it anyway.
