How to Improve your Golf Game? Go Beyond your Comfort Zone

At whatever point many people discuss amusement change quite often and brings us to talk about swing mechanics. I've talked before concerning why processing different swing tips can hurt your amusement – mainly from that arbitrary person at the driving extent. This shouldn't imply that your golf swing isn't imperative. It is VERY critical. You must be alright with your golf diversion and being on a green. How would you arrive? You need to make yourself awkward.

I need to share a tad about my particular encounters of adding uneasiness to my golf diversion, and how it helped me develop as a player. For quite a long time I was stuck in nonpartisan and invert with golf. In the same way as other of you, I did likewise correct things at the driving reach and the green. There was no arrangement; I mostly made an insincere effort that made me agreeable. At that point by chance, a couple of things began to change. I moved to another town where I knew no one, surely not golfers. I was compelled to play with an entirely new gathering of individuals at our nearby course. It places me in that apprehensive place where you know golfers need to perceive what sort of player you are.

Now, I hadn't played in a competition circumstance in over ten years. My diversion was enhancing, I felt great in those neighborhood matches, yet the focused side of me needed more. So I chose to agree to accept the U.S. Open Qualifier. Hop into the deeper end of the pool. I experienced loathsome nervousness and dread upon the arrival of the occasion before I jump started. You can read about the experience here. In any case, I shocked myself and played exceptionally well.

I played more occasions that year. I had some incredibly demoralizing minutes and some active ones. In any case, one thing was evident – the more uneasiness I put myself through, the more agreeable I felt on a green amid typical rounds (and focused ones). Out of the blue, my level of nerves amid non-competition rounds was nearly non-existent because I felt as if I'd "experienced the fire." As such, my level of play expanded in general. My scores were more reliable, and all the more critically, my pleasure in the amusement extended significantly more. The least demanding activity is stalled out in a cycle that rehashes itself again and again. Regardless of whether it's your own life, work, or even golf – now and again you have to make a stride back and consider what you are doing.

If you need to enhance as a golfer, at that point, you have to adjust your propensities by one means or another. Consider what parts of the diversion give you the most uneasiness. At that point think of an arrangement to take a shot at them and take care of business. The more time you spend on them, you will discover something intriguing will begin to happen. Your diversion will feel more total, and you'll be a surer (and likely more joyful) golfer.

Incredible Day 2 at the Masters Starts with Mayhem and Ends with Patrick Reed in the Lead

The first-round pioneer Jordan Spieth began Friday with a twofold intruder on his first gap. At that point, he missed the following opening. After a short time, Phil Mickelson, who started Friday only four strokes off the lead, ended up in the forested areas, where he attempted a recuperation shot that ricocheted off a tree trunk and vanished in a hedge. There may have been imagery in that outcome since Mickelson soon disappeared from the pioneer board.

Not long after Mickelson's misfortune, Tiger Woods clubbed his ball from the pine straw close by a fairway and sent it soaring into the darkest ranges of a forest behind a green. Woods wound up shooting a three-over-standard 75 and scarcely fit the bill to play whatever remains of the competition. Woods is currently four over for the tournament, and Mickelson, one shot behind him, cut by just a stroke. After all the early hardship and offensive play, a large group of different golfers later in the day playing with the equal effectiveness that sent them surges into conflict. At last, the Masters' midpoint brought a pioneer board stacked with past real champions, including Spieth, who bounced back from his weak begin.

Patrick Reed, who shot a shining 66 with nine birdies, was the second-round pioneer at nine under a standard, and Marc Leishman, who shot a 67, was two strokes back for the competition. Neither Reed nor Leishman has won a noteworthy title, and sneaking behind them were eight outstanding champs inside seven strokes.

That gathering included Henrik Stenson, who was in third at five under the standard, in addition to Spieth and Rory McIlroy, who were one stroke behind Stenson.

Dustin Johnson, the runaway most loved to win the 2017 Masters until the point when he was harmed just before the occasion, shot a 68 Friday to reaffirm his application for a green coat. Johnson was at three under the standard. Tied with Johnson, the 2016 United States Open victor was Justin Thomas, a year ago’ P.G.A. champion.

Justin Rose and Louis Oosthuizen, additionally real victors, were another stroke back, as was Bubba Watson, the two-time Masters champ. However, the spotlight shone brightest on Reed, and in light of current circumstances. He has one-putted on 22 of his 36 openings, and he is the leading player who has birdied the course's four standard 5s in each round.

He is additionally an arousing figure in the diversion, eminent for a rude manner and a pompous Ryder Cup record. However, Reed, the world's 24th-positioned golfer, has been compelled to sit tight restlessly for his first significant triumph. His best complete in a noteworthy was second place at the P.G.A. Title a year ago when he completed two strokes behind Thomas.

Leishman, 34, has maybe played the most reliably of anybody in the field up until this point, in spite of the fact that he missed a few birdie openings amidst Friday's round. At that point, he had an intruder on the fourteenth gap, where he appeared somewhat shaken.

Is it the End of Peterson’s Career?

John Peterson drives the Wells Fargo Championship following a 6-under 65 Thursday, and he might be just two more occasions from retirement. The 29-year-old said back in January at the Sony Open that he was thinking about leaving the PGA Tour if he neglected to meet the prerequisites of his restorative expansion this year.

"I'm somewhat freewheeling it now," he said. "I know a tad has been said in regards to me resigning if I don't profit for my restorative begins and all that is valid. If I don't make it, I'm not playing golf any longer."

Peterson and his better half had their first youngster, Luke, last October, and the couple plans to have more kids. Some portion of Peterson's readiness to leave is because he has no enthusiasm for being a FaceTime father. What's more, some part of it is that he only couldn't care less for the Tour way of life.

"I simply hate the movement over here in particular," he clarified. "I don't care for it by any means, sincerely. Don't misunderstand me; I don't loathe it around here. They treat you incredible consistently. You don't have anything to stress over. I like it a great deal around here. I only sort of need to be a father and like be around my child and my family more regularly, despite the fact that, better believe it, they're here this week, yet they can't come each week. Thirty-five weeks out and about a year or somewhere in the vicinity? It's simply not for me…

"They need to see a greater amount of me around Fort Worth; I need to see a greater amount of them. It's an awesome life over here. It's an awesome life around here, on the off chance that you like the way of life." Peterson's therapeutic expansion goes back to the 2015-16 season. He's been battling with a bone issue on the highest point of his hand this time, and he's never recovered the swing speed he once had.

To stay on Tour, he'll have to win either 237 focuses or $318,096 in his next three occasions, including this week. He can fulfill the augmentation here at Quail Hollow on focuses with a two-path tie for second or better and on dollars with a three-route tie for fourth or better. Peterson was a three-time All-American at LSU and the 2011 NCAA Division I singular champion, however, his novice achievement hasn't meant the expert positions. On the off chance that he steps away at 29, it will be reasonable for judge his professional vocation as something of a mistake contrasted with what was normal when he left school. However, Peterson won't take a gander at it that way. Peterson's opening round Thursday included consecutive hawks on Nos. 7 and 8, the extent that may influence you to mull over resigning. Be that as it may, Peterson was limit – those days naturally don't come around frequently enough.

Presently, to be clear, Peterson isn't so finished with golf that he'd intentionally attempt to discard this opportunity. He's not going take the last round lead into the Green Mile and point out into the center of the lake.

How to Master Golf

One of the most challenging parts of some golf players is picking up the capacity to get their iron shots airborne. The issue is just exacerbated when players concentrate excessively on making their shot. The ideal approach to dispatch the ball with irons appears to be strange: Irons produce hang by pushing down into the ball and compacting it between the substance of the club and the ground.

Practice your swing at a driving reach with grass hitting territory, or in your yard utilizing balls on grass. Place a ball down, at that point position a tee by the ball. The tee will be utilized to demonstrate the area of your divot in connection to where your ball was before you struck it.

Hit the ball and search for the area of your divot. The perfect spot for a divot is before the ball (target side) because iron is intended to hit the ball on the downside, not the rise. This implies the club ought to skim the highest point in the wake of reaching the ball. Repeat the shot with another ball, setting the ball at the back (nearer to your objective) of the divot from the last chance. Continue to the point that you hit ten shots in succession that all make divots before the ball. This is a sign you are reliably hitting down on the ball.

Place a ball down on a grass or tangle surface and address the ball as typical. Move your trailing leg (right leg for right-gave golfers) around 1 foot behind you with the goal that exclusive your toe is touching the ground. Try not to move your lead foot from its regular position at address.

Hit the ball. Since you will be compelled to keep a more noteworthy level of weight on your front foot, you will pivot about the lead leg, building up the sentiment turning forward, a necessary piece of swinging down on the golf ball to drive it up and at the objective. Hold the club appropriately with a covering, interlocking or 10-finger baseball grasp. The club will sit corner to corner between the first and second joint of the pointer, the distance to the base of the pinkie. Place your feet as wide as your shoulders for a tee shot with a driver. Curve your knees, lean forward and enable your arms to dangle from the shoulder attachments.

Position the ball left of focus toward within your front foot, which ought to be straightforwardly underneath the front shoulder attachment, for a tee shot. Push the ball toward the focal point of your position for shots with a more flung club.

Check to ensure your clubface is square to the objective. Numerous golfers set the clubface to the actual line before they set their feet and whatever is left of the body. Pick a middle of the road focus on, a question like a twig or stained grass, that is situated around 2 feet before the ball between the ball and the stick. This will keep you adjusted as you hit your shot with your head brought down. Move the club back by influencing a shoulder to pivot your spine.

Why Are Golf Clubs Struggling To Survive?

Various opinions about the future of golf exist. Some say the sport is in serious decline, others maintain that golf is stagnating and yet others see a wonderful future for the game. There was a boom in golf participation at a time when the world economy was thriving. The decline in golf courses, clubs and players is the result of a correction in the market after the good years.

Fact is that there are many people who love the game. It is part of their being. They are genetically infused with a golf bias inspiring them to play the game. As long as there are people who want to play golf it will be played. Nothing can stand in the way as new players bolster the playing numbers. If you are one of these born-to-play-golf persons your interest in the running of your club is crucial. Contributing your skills, whatever they may be, to the good of the club is the very best way to ensure the continued existence of these facilities.

The traditional business model for a successful golf club is to have a core group of members. They contribute, through their subs and the use of club facilities, to the expenses to keep the club operational. When doing the annual budget take into account expenses like fuel, salaries, insurance, electricity, water, and more. These are the most basic actions to keep your club afloat.

Private golf clubs are usually run for profit. Some private clubs do not operate for profit. They want to break even on current and capital expenses. A third category refers to public golf courses. Funding by the members remains important but some form of public funding subsidizes the game. Municipalities often play a role in this type of funding.

Here are some suggestions to ensure liquidity and growth for your club:

• Make sure that you provide excellent service to the members of your club. Proper maintenance, dealing with tensions and friendly staff come to mind. People want value for money.

• Maintaining a friendly atmosphere of comradeship is helpful.

• Encourage shorter plays like nine holes and even less to help those with time and money problems.

• Be realistic about sales of equipment and supporting items when creating your budget.

• Be aware that since 2008 the world economy is struggling. Money is not as available as it was in the growth years.

• Spending money on golf is part of your entertainment spend. Keep this in mind when you plan your discretionary spending

• Be creative so that members join and stay with your club. Make membership of your club fun.

• Many people are now taking advantage of better health care. The result is higher age and better health. Target those over forty as future members of your club. Get involved in your club both in active support and offering of your skills. The more heads the greater the chances of finding acceptable ways to sustain our beloved sport.

Golf Etiquette – A Mirror Of The Inner Self

Aim To Improve

It is often repeated that golf requires focus in every aspect of the game. Think of either the past or the future and your heart will be absent from the game. This presupposes that you are setting yourself up for disappointment.

A brilliant swing may still end up in the rough if your aim is not up to scratch. Improving your aim is an ongoing task. It requires the same attention that you give to all other facets of the game. Practice makes perfect is no lie. When you practice give similar attention to aiming and alignment as you do to other features of the game like a great swing. Golfers who like to prepare at the driving range often waste their shots. They fail to attend to target practice. This is a mistake. Every shot that you rehearse should have a purpose and a target including aiming and swing. Make it a habit to combine your entire set of skill when you visit the driving range.

Look where you aim to hit. Too much concern for a hazard on the course may distract you to the point where your shot goes exactly where your awareness concentrates.

It is a major mistake to assume that you can simply take aim and hope for the best. You will find yourself in the best of company of you learn a method to approach your aim for the best results. Follow the routine developed by the very best players in the history of the game including Nicklaus and Wood. Stand behind your ball and imagine a line running from the ball to the target. Select a spot on that line near to the ball about 18 inches away. Keep your eye on that spot and move into position to play the shot. Align your body in relation to the target. Imagine a parallel line from your body next to the imaginary line to the target. Continue building your alignment and focus on that spot about 18 inches ahead of your ball. At the same, time align your club so that the flat part will hit the ball at a 180-degree angle. In this way, you will direct the ball along that imaginary line where your eye remains focused. At this stage, you have not even looked at the target since selecting that spot where you focus is.

With your body and club aligned in this manner, you are ready to take the shot. You can have confidence knowing that your aim lines up in a way proven by winning golfers. Now you can look up at your target and play that champion swing. Continue to practice this winning routine. Do not feel discouraged if your first attempts do not meet with the success that you crave. No doubt you will see improvement over time. Aligning your body and club to the target will allow you to take charge of your game in a consistent manner.

Trust that you will have happy golfing days.

Swing Basics

New players to the game of golf are encouraged to seek lessons from a qualified golf teacher to learn the technicalities of the game. Lessons in small groups or in an introductory course at a local club or driving range are also a good way to learn the basics before strolling down the fairway.

A good swing is imperative to the game. The idea is to build up enough speed in the head of the club to send the ball down the course. The focus should be on developing a smooth, even swing rather than to hit the ball. When gripping the club, both hands have to work together. The grip should be light with both hands close together. Beginners should start with a ten finger grip. As skill develops, the overlapping grip as used by most players could be adopted.

Posture is important. Your body, feet, knees, hips and shoulders should be parallel to the target to ensure the ball travels in the correct direction. A solid stance forms the basis of a good swing. Your feet should be shoulder width apart with your knees slightly bent. Lean forward from your waist so that your arms hang down. Your weight should be spread evenly on both feet and the ball should be placed level with the inside of your front foot.

Use a long iron or wood with a full swing to send the ball as far as possible from your current position. A full swing will not always be necessary but the same principles can be used on a shorter stroke. A pitch shot would be used to hit the ball high into the air to get it to stop close to the intended target. A swing of about half of a full swing will accomplish this.

A chip shot is a short shot where the ball rises a little bit off the ground and then continues along the ground for some distance. A mini swing which is about one third of the length of a full swing will do this. As a general rule, the shorter your shot the shorter your swing should be. Bunker shots may use a combination of all of the other swing lengths and techniques. They depend on how close the bunker is to the green. If the bunker is close to the green the sand should be hit about five centimetres behind the ball.

Once you make it to the green, the putting stroke is used to put the ball into the hole. This mini swing uses the arms and shoulders and the rest of the body should not move.

Rules for beginners

The rules of golf are unusual in their application. They are universal and are printed in a handbook that every player should carry and are available form most golf clubs and associations. However, they are applied by the players without the oversight of a referee.

As much as a player would like to move the ball to a better position, it must be played where it lies. A player may not bend or break anything that might be growing or fixed in the way unless it is done in the process of taking a fair swing. Nothing may be pressed down but loose impediments such as stones or twigs can be moved without sanction, except in a hazard. In a bunker or water hazard, a player may not ground the club before the ball is struck.

Even the most skilful players will lose or send their ball out of bounds from time to time. You are allowed no more than five minutes to search for a lost ball. If it can’t be found, a player can hit a second ball from the same spot. This provisional ball must be communicated to your partners before you play it. If you find the previously lost ball, you must play with it rather than the provisional ball. A player incurs one penalty stroke for using a provisional ball.

Best Golf Drivers In 2018
Best Golf Drivers In 2018

A player may declare their ball unplayable if it is very difficult or impossible to hit. A ball can not be declared unplayable if it is in a hazard. A player can pick their unplayable ball up and drop it in a certain position after incurring a one penalty stroke to their score. These positions are at the spot from where the ball was last played, a point back from the spot where the ball came to rest that is in line with the hole or within two club lengths from where the ball came to a rest provided it is not nearer to the hole. It is not advisable to declare a ball unplayable in a bunker.

If the ball falls into a water hazard, it is not automatically ruled as being unplayable. There are spots that another ball could be played from, such as from where the ball was last played or behind the water hazard in line with the hole, but a one stroke penalty will be incurred.

Urban Golf

Golf has been played in a traditional format for centuries. But like many other things, newer versions have been developed. Urban golf began as a version of beach golf on the east coast of Australia as people battled obstacles to get to the beach. People around the world were participating in other forms of golf too. Participants in the streets of Paris, New York and Germany were playing their own types of golf.

The not for profit organisation Urban Golf Australia is promoting the new version of the sport. Anybody can play urban golf whether they be in the street, the middle of a busy city or their own home. Urban golf has gained in popularity so much that World Urban Golf Day is held each year in October. The popularity of the sport has grown so much that the sport is played in thirty different countries and not just Australia.

Another version of golf that has drawn competitors from all over the world is speedgolf. As its name suggests, players play a round of golf in the shortest time while still trying to achieve the lowest number of shots. Speedgolf International founded the sport in the 1970’s in the USA. The Speedgolf World Championship draws players from North America, Europe, Japan and Australia.

Christopher Smith set the current world record in 2005. He hit five under par 65 in 44 minutes and 6 seconds. The total he got of 109.96 may stand for some time to come. Speedgolf Australia was formed to expand the game of speedgolf in that country. Since 2013, the sport has grown into something which boasts a national championship and several leagues.

Both Urban golf and speedgolf offer a different approach to a sport that was considered very conservative. These types offer a different way for people of all backgrounds to play golf in a contemporary setting.

Presumably, the correct gear dependably helps, yet it's not as though you'll have to discharge your bank account to begin. Instead, focus on finding the kind of hardware that will enable you to build up your blemished aptitudes with negligible cost. There'll be a lot of time to pursue the most recent, hot items available.

Try not to figure - attempt before you purchase: If you're a flat out fledgling hoping to buy clubs, go to a more prominent golf shop or driving reach and request to attempt a 6-press with a customary flex and a solid flex shaft. For the most part, the quicker and more powerful the swing, the more you will favor a pole that is marked "S" for stable. One of the two should feel less demanding to control. That is the pole flex you should begin with for every one of your clubs. When you quit fooling around about the amusement and can reach, a club fitting will empower you to get the best of your gear.

The more space, the better: Unless you're a reliable and very much organized competitor experienced with stick and ball sports (baseball, softball, hockey, tennis, for instance), select woods that have more space. So run for gears with no less than 10 degrees of space and fairway woods that begin at 17 degrees, not 15 degrees.

Exploit clubs made for fledglings: Some kinds of clubs are simpler to hit than others. For a specific something, you're in an ideal situation with half and halves rather than 3-, 4-, and 5-irons. Also, irons with more great soles will ease the propensity for the club to stick in the ground when you hit long ways behind the ball. Additionally, with more weight packed in the sole, the iron's focal point of gravity will be lower, and this will enable shots to dispatch in a higher direction. If an iron's sole measures short of what one finger width, you just ought to play in case you're paid to do as such.

The Sport of Golf Needs a Reform!

For a long time, the golfing industry has been trying to expand its potential by bringing in new players for the sport, while side-by-side carrying the attempts to keep present players loyal to the game by not letting them leave. A variety of programs have been brought into use for this specific purpose. However, none of them seem to be doing all that well if I would say so. Nothing seems to be working.

After observation, I believe, everything comes down to reasoning. So, let us look into the issue closely.

Issues Faced by the Industry

The golfing industry comes across three common issues that the sportpersons normally complain about:

• The game being difficult

• The game being time-consuming

• The game being cost-inefficient, i.e., expensive.

Proclivity towards Golf

Among adults that have shown a proclivity towards the game, there are three distinct groups:

• Ones who like the game but cannot begin due to various reasons, or perhaps due to one of the reasons mentioned in the above sub-section

• Ones who play frequently but play for a reduced number of rounds

• Ones who take up the game for a while but then leave

From here on, I would like to bring my focus on the third group - those that leave the game.

As I mentioned before, the golfing industry designs programs to gain new players. However, I would like to bring to their notice that for the players they gain with devised programs, almost an equal number of people leave the game too. Their method is analogous to continuously pouring water in a bucket with a hole at its bottom. To say it effectively and clearly, their methods stand ineffective.

When asked, most game-quitters claim that they do not have enough time for golf, or that the game costs too much to indulge in. I doubt the honesty of these claims however.

What I do want everyone here to consider is, the scoring method. I am of the opinion that people opt for easier and dishonest answers to preserve their dignity. They are not to be blamed of course.

Par

I believe that the underlying reason for people to quit playing golf is due to how they view their performance. The game is definitely a tough nut to crack, but the scoring methods make the situation worse. What is supposed to be fun-time for an individual, instead brings in pressure to perform well, making the sport ‘no-fun’.

All of this, due to one reason alone - the concept of par.

Consider this: a beginner scoring ‘eight’ on a ‘par-four’ hole after six shots and then two putting for an ‘eight’. They have every reason to be elated in context of their ability even though they’ve just begun, but, we all know that they are not, as they are four-over par on that hole. This is our ‘Old Man Par’*.

*Term coined by Bobby Jones

Personal Par

Now, consider this: You take up a new subject at school. You work very hard for your first assignment, and you actually do a very good job. However, you score an ‘F’. How would you feel? Encouraged or discouraged?

On the contrary, imagine if you were marked relatively, with respect to your past and present performance/ability alone. This is personal par.

Personal par was a concept used to groom a young Tiger Woods. His coach designed a system in which he would adjust the par upward based on Woods’ ability at a particular point in time.

If we use this for the game, beginners would find more satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment - the kind of encouragement they need to stick to golfing.

Personal par is the kind of system that we require to improve the game’s condition today and help it recuperate. Having said this, I move for ‘Old Man Par’ to retire and retire permanently. He is killing a good game.

Physical Fitness And Golf

Physical fitness is a choice. There is no argument that a person who is fit enjoys a better quality of life as well as improved health. Fitness requires you to get moving, to use your physical body, to be active. Most golfers are reasonably fit because they get up and about performing their golfing activities. Walking the course instead of using a cart is recommended. The medical benefits of walking kicks in with regular walking three or four times per week, starting at 3 miles a day.

Besides general fitness, you also have the choice to perform physical exercises that will prepare you specifically for playing the golf. Some golfers are fanatic about fitness. But they have the results to prove the wisdom of this option. Remaining in a very good physical condition is your personal choice. Be aware, though, that general fitness and golf-related exercises can both contribute to a richer golfing experience.

Playing golf requires solid flexibility in both muscles and joints. Flexibility is the single most important physical quality likely to influence your golf swing. Stretching drills are an excellent way of aiding the desired suppleness. You can, for example, stand somewhere with enough space. Put your arms together above your head and reach upwards as high as you can, relaxing and repeating these stretches several times. An alternative is to stand with your back against a wall. Reach up with both arms remaining flat against the wall while stretching upwards on your toes.

When it comes to muscle exercises the core muscle right at the center of your body is a game changer. It is your deepest abdominal muscle, the one that you feel contracting when you cough. Golfers improve with the strengthening of the core, the shoulders, and the upper back. This translates into a better swing. Rotational strengthening should be a further goal. You can add significant distance to your long shots when these muscle groups are trained regularly.

Many exercises can help you to achieve this strengthening of relevant muscles. A simple example is planking where you lie on the floor facing down. Push your body up on your elbows and maintain that position for as long as you can. You should soon be able to do several minutes. Repeat as you feel that core muscle contracting and improving in strength. Or, stand up with your legs slightly wider than the shoulders, take two dumb bells or a medicine ball in your stretched out arms and rotate in a figure eight. Rest and repeat as often as you can.

These exercises are mere examples of the varied activities available to help you reach golf fitness. Support is at hand from various sources. Trainers at your gym can work out a regular training routine targeting those specific areas. A physiotherapist or similar professional can also be a source of quality advice. Many videos are available on YouTube demonstrating programs for you to follow. They all promote flexibility, mobility, stability and core strength.

How The Game Of Golf Started

The ancient origin of the game of golf has sparked off lots of debate among historians. Although the modern golf as we know it originated in Scotland in the 15th century, some historians have traced the game back to the Roman empire before the first century. Others assert that the game of golf is a modern form of the "chinwa" (a Chinese game played around the eighth century which involves striking a ball with a stick with the aim of putting it in a hole). Some other games like the "cambuka" which was played England, "cambot" played in France and "Koven" which was played in the Netherlands have all been cited by different historians as the progenitor of the modern golf.

However modern golf originated in Scotland, the first written record of on golf was when James II banned the game of golf, the ban was later lifted when James IV a successor to James II became a golfer. Golf clubs were first recorded in 1503-1504: "For golf clubbers and balls to the King that he played it with." In 1764, the standard 18 hole golf course was created at St Andrew's. The oldest golf course has been traced to Musselburgh Links in East Lothian, Scotland. Records show that golf was being played in Musselburgh links as early as 2nd March 1672, the Guinness book of world records certifies this.

The oldest golf rules were compiled in 1744 for The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers which was formally known as "the Company of Gentlemen Golfers" in Scotland. The open championship tournament which dates back to 1860 is the worlds oldest golf tournament in existence, the open championship tournament was first played on 17 October 1860 at Prestwick Golf Club, in Ayrshire, Scotland, with Scottish golfers. The earliest golf players in America were Scotsmen from Dunfermline, named John Reid and Robert Lockhart. These two scots first demonstrated golf in the United States in 1888. John Reid also set up America's first golf club(Saint Andrew's golf club)in Yonkers, New York.

Golf Etiquette – A Mirror Of The Inner Self

Long before golf became a popular game, the Irish novelist Laurence Sterne had the following to say about good manners.

“Respect for ourselves guides our morals, respect for others guides our manners”.

Use your own expectations of others as a guideline to essential etiquette on the course.

Golf, like other sports, depends a great deal on what is happening in your mind. So, be aware of the powerful role that your thinking is playing in every aspect of your game. Your deep and concentrated thought about your interaction with your fellow players is also crucial. In this way, golf is an extension of your day-to-day living, a mirror of the person you are exhibiting to the world.

Many of the rules of golf are well-known. Consider examples like:

• Filling up divots

• Repairing the damage caused by your ball going into a bunker

• Restricted movements around the greens including the making good of spike marks

• Driving the golf cart so that it causes the least damage

• Careful handling of equipment like rakes and flagpoles

• Letting faster players through

• Genuine honesty in a game based on self-supervision without the aid of a referee

These requirements are well-known to the new golfer, picked up with little effort.

Good manners on the course, however, go beyond the mere adherence to a set of familiar rules. It involves an inner conviction that sport and in particular golf is not only played for the joy of the game. It also builds character, it enriches your life, and it makes you a better person. Examples of this kind of conduct are:

• Be ready to play when it is your turn

• Be generally helpful and friendly. Help to look for missing balls. Watch your fellow players performing so that you too, can guide ball seeking when the inevitable happens

• Show good sportsmanship. Make sure though that your compliments and congratulations are genuine, coming straight from your heart

Golf can sometimes be a frustrating experience but it also enriches your soul and improves your skills to cope with the challenges of life. Good manners on the course will make you an inspiring partner for other players. You will be a popular call to make up a friendly foursome for a satisfying game.

Golf tricks to master the golf craft!

Played enough golf to get the basics right? It's time to level up now!

Although golf is a lot about getting your stance and swing right, there are certain things that you can add to your kitty in order to improve your game even further. When you are able to control more factors in the game, there are more chances of driving the golf ball straight into the hole!

To get you started, here are a few simple golf tricks that will refine your game and help you master the golf craft one step at a time.

Get Behind The Ball

Whenever you’re preparing your first swing, what do you do take aim? Some people like to align their shoulders to the target; some players even align their legs in a left or right position. But to really get the hang of the right direction, you need to get behind the ball and funnel down your perspective towards the aim.

To do this, you can use the clubface as well. Just hold it aligned to the aim while you’re standing behind the ball and then adjust your posture for the shot. Remember that this has to be done before taking the stance. In this way, you’ll get a clear view of the aim and your body will steer in the right direction.

Solidify Your Stance

Contrary to the general belief, changing your stance around with a change in the club is actually not good. You need to maintain a firm stance throughout the game. Whenever you hit the ball, a constantly maintained stance helps you keep the direction correct.

At the same time, be wary that you’re allowed to make minor adjustments that your body needs for the best stroke. A solid stance doesn’t have to come at the cost of discomfort; it has to come at the cost of precision, however that works out for you.

Ride the Wind

The best way to get out of a windy situation is to use it to your advantage. When players try to hit the ball against the wind, they lose out on the target more often than not.

To ride the wind productively, hit the ball in a manner that the wind helps it along its way towards the aim. This can be done by hitting the ball in a slightly anti-wind direction, which will make the ball regain its fairway. Alternatively, you can hit the ball towards the wind to achieve a longer draw and a better ball flight.

Hit on the Pro Side

The dynamics of the golf ball teach us that it is more susceptible to go towards the hole when it steered towards the side that’s higher than the hole. The higher side is the pro side. This is because the golf ball doesn’t have a natural tendency to travel upward direction and if your shots are going on the lower side, you’re actually helping the ball away from the hole.

Chip it Crisp and Solid

In the end, chipping the ball could be the deciding factor for you. The best way to chip the ball is to make the hit solid yet crisp. This can be mastered by transferring your body balance to your left leg and hold the club firmly for the hit. This will help you gain the best position to control the chip and also make your judgment immaculate.

The Most Helpful Tips For Your Short Game

1. Less loft for the upslope

An upslope around the green adds loft to the club so leave the wedge in the bag and use an 8- or 9-iron. It’s easier to control the distance that the ball will travel through the air.

Position your spine at right-angles to the slope, with your shoulders and knees parallel to the gradient.

Don’t lean into the slope. Keep your weight on the lower foot and then follow through from impact to a high finish.

2. Belly the wedge

With so many courses so well manicured, chances are the greenkeeper will keep the semi-rough around the fringe defined.

Getting a putter behind the ball is difficult. As such, take a putting grip using the heaviest club in your bag – the sand wedge as some professionals do on the Evian Ladies European Tour.

Position the ball in the center of your stance and hover the leading edge of the wedge over the grass. With a low, slow backswing, strike the ball at its equator and watch it roll like a putt.

3. Soft hands for finesse shots

Around the green, we get so determined to achieve length and direction that we often tense our bodies. Try to relieve that tension by gripping the club lightly with 'soft hands.’

When being asked about the best tip that he could offer golfers, Bernhard Langer says that would be to concentrate on grip pressure, which means a light touch for finesse shots. Imagine you are merely tossing the ball on to the green with an under-hand throwing action.

4. In the groove

For shots around the green, remove mud and debris from your grooves to make better contact with the golf ball from the clubface and obtain a little check spin.

You can buy special tools to clean the grooves. Alternatively, you can use the sharp end of your tee to get rid of anything stuck on the club face.

An increase in spin will give you better control around the greens. It is crucial in developing a solid chipping game.

5. Flag up your wedges

Most of us have, at least once, lost or left behind a wedge after chipping on to the green and leaving it where we played our last shot.

To prevent that from happening again, before putting out, lay your wedge on or beside the flagstick when it’s removed from the hole. As such, you can’t avoid picking it up before replacing the flagstick.

Activities of golf clubs

The golf club is used here to refer to an organization of golfers, or a house for golfers, not the piece of equipment that is used to play golf. Just as Golf club varies ranging from privately owned to government-owned to local and international, so does their activities, but there are some activities that form the bases of any golf club or golf clubhouse, by this we mean if a club doesn't carry out these activities then it is certainly not a golf club. Needless to say, a golf club is a place for golfers hence Golf clubs provide trained staff who provide coaching section for members of the club. Golf clubs gives golfers the opportunity to participate in tournament and competitions. They also offer the golfer the opportunity to play as many holes as he or she wants.

Golf clubs provide health facilities. They offer members emergency cards that they carry with them in case of any medical emergency that may occur during a section.

Golf clubs provide Social activities. These clubs also serve as a social platform where different people come together to make friends, acquaintances and interact with one another. Most golf clubs make provisions for junior golfers. Provision is also made for the whole family to participate in golf.

They also provide pro-shops for golfers to buy golfing equipment like clubs, vests, jackets, trophies, etc. Golf equipment is also available for hire in golf clubs and room for repair of golf equipment is also available. These clubs give member full all-year-round access to golf course.

Golf clubs also host golf events both professional and armature. These clubs provide both indoor and outdoor driving range and practice areas which would help the golfer improve his performance as well as an avenue for members to gain a handicap and play in competitions. Lodging accommodations are also available for members of golf clubs. Golf clubs also organize member-guest tournaments, which is a great way to lower one's handicap and improve one's performance in the game.

Want To Hit Straight Tee Shots? Here’s What To Do! Tiger’s Performance Brings Back The Old Days, But Not Quite Yet

Want To Hit Straight Tee Shots? Here’s What To Do!

The secret to straighter tee shots has been the control of the club as its swinging from the back and entering the downswing arch. The general practice is to present an outward club face to the ball just before the impact but you know you can improve it by swinging the club in alignment with the target.

Not So Close

You needn’t be come too close to your body while you’re managing to keep the club inside the target line, as it’ll eventually make you hit your hip with your elbow. This is bad for your body as well as the score. So, if you’re going to try out the going-out-from-in type of swing, you need to avoid this situation altogether.

A Wide Approach

Going wide can save the day. You need to keep your left arm much wider in order to avoid the arm and body collision. When you do this, you allow the swing to go naturally. You have to help this natural swinging motion by not allowing your wrists get in the way. Simply let it flow and hit the ball with an automatically gained speed with distance.

Tiger’s Performance Brings Back The Old Days, But Not Quite Yet

Tiger Woods’ recent performances at Florida bring back the memories of the master-class player as he scored 65-69 at the Players.

The performance comes as a delight because the highly acclaimed player was rough back in January and now his game seems to have gotten some hold.

The player managed to play Saturday and Sunday without finishing, which is one thing that every Golf fan was not expecting him to do. In golf, finishing is a must until you are leading by an elephant.

He was making nicer contacts with the ball and his swings had found the lost charm. It was beautiful to watch him play. The cautious Woods could be seen in his full flow as he was putting the ball with some profound freedom.

You can be all impressed with his 69, it’s important that you don’t mirror him with his 1997 or 2013 self. Your impression of him must limit itself to a mere applause and awe, without proclaiming, “Tiger is Back”. That would be a out of place for now.

Best Golf Drivers In 2018

By that we don’t say he was short of brilliant - he wasn’t, but this is not the Tiger Woods from back-in-time, he is a much mature man, capable of different abilities. This performance was however a great bring-back of memories, undoubtedly.

Bits can be taken from his par-3 8th, where he directly hit the ball explosively out of the side of the green, instead of doing a bunker shot. The ball quietly whizzed off to the hilly green and tumbled down towards the hole. How brilliant it was? You can tell if you saw it.

Tiger was also seen putting on the same aggressiveness, he is known for. Something that left him earlier but has found him again. His hits were intentionally hit with a prowess that is often put to debate. aggressiveness may be the new trend in golf winners. After a much awaited and least expected, great game of Golf, the player remarked quite modestly on his performance. The level of maturity shows when you’re 42 and it was evident here. He was much happier with his game and openly acknowledged the improvement he put on display after the rough patch of January.
